Raised in Swannanoa, NC, Sean earned his B.A.'s in Philosophy and Psychology from N.C. State University in 2022. For his senior thesis he focused on the concept of Bildung in Gadamer’s Truth and Method and has since co-written a paper on the concept of Naturphilosophie in Hegel’s Encyclopaedia, titled Hegel’s Estimation of Evolution: An Emergentist Perspective, in the journal Idealistic Studies. Before coming to CDG, Sean spent two years in Linz, Austria, as an English teaching assistant through Fulbright Austria.
Sean is generally interested in German Idealism, with an emphasis on Hegelian and Schellingian philosophy, as well as their connection to the wider culture of the German-speaking world of the time. Outside of his studies, Sean enjoys hiking, reading, and playing the banjo.
