Ingeborg Walther devoted her research to both contemporary theater (Franz Xaver Kroetz) and pedagogical issues that bring language acquisition, culture and curriculum into productive dialogue. In her capacity as Language Program Director and Director of Undergraduate Studies, she has created a coherent, articulated German language curriculum that integrates language and culture at all levels, while introducing students to some of the primary concerns of German Studies, namely the relationships between culture and identity, language and power, reader and text, text and context. She also co-mentors CDG graduate teaching assistants at Duke and also teaches the annual CDG graduate seminar in foreign language pedagogy.
