Born in Munich, Germany, and raised near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Andrea holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a MALS from Duke University. She has taught German as a Foreign Language (DaF) at both UNC and Duke as a visiting lecturer before joining the PhD program. Broadly speaking, Andrea is interested in the inherently reflective capacity of poetry. Specifically, Andrea’s research investigates the gender dynamics at play at the moment of epiphany in Modernist German poetry. As such, her work touches on feminist aesthetics and media theory.
