Native to Mongolia, Undraa earned her BA and MA at the University of Bonn in Germany. In her master’s thesis she examined the aspects of loss and death in J. D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye and compared it to the German classic of adolescence literature Die Neuen Leiden des jungen W. by Ulrich Plenzdorf. After graduating, she taught elementary to advanced German to adult immigrants in Bonn. Her current research focuses on minoritized authors in Germany in the second half of the 20th century, with special emphasis on Black German literature with regard to formation of identity and self-assertion.
