Martin Dawson earned his B.A. in German and Music, with a concentration in Music History at the College of Charleston in 2013. Martin spent the next year as an English Teaching Assistant in Austrian schools as part of the Austrian Fulbright program. His dissertation research focuses on how authors of the mid-nineteenth century register the disorienting experience of organizing time in the face of industrial and technical advancement in Germany, and how these authors use poetry to combat the acceleration of life. Additional research interests include the intersections of music and literature and translation studies.
