Lukas Hoffman graduated in 2016 from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a B.A. in German and a minor in the Humanities. He wrote an honors thesis, titled: “Adorno and Augustine; Parallel Conceptions of Alienation and the Self,” where he examined structural affinities between Augustinian theology and Adorno’s critical project. His dissertation research focuses on the intersection of religion and critical theory within Modernist lyric, focusing specifically on the poetry of Else Lasker-Schüler, Georg Trakl, Rainer Maria Rilke, and Paul Celan. His other research interests include: Philosophical Aesthetics, Catholic Theology, and German Intellectual History.
