Jeffrey Hertel

Jeff got his BA in German, History and Psychology from Indiana University, Bloomington, where he went on to complete an MA in European Studies with a focus on Germany. He wrote a thesis about how the concept of “movement” or Bewegung changed over the course of the long nineteenth century. During his MA studies, he spent six months at the Freie Universität Berlin, attending history lectures and seminars and researching for his thesis at the Staatsbibliothek. His dissertation research focuses on the long nineteenth century and the notions of revolution and social upheaval. Specifically, he is inquiring into representations of such upheavals within dramatic and satirical writings.
